History:
Ferguson Kasako was born approximately 19 years ago. His mother was an overly opinionated woman who ruled their household through force of will. His father and older sister were both generally weak willed people, who went along with anything she said. So too, did Ferguson. A quiet kid, Ferguson was ‘the weakest link' throughout school. He had little to no friends, and was generally a solitary individual. He read books and watched horror movies, a particular favorite of his.
In high school, Ferguson tried to change his luck, and step out of the mold everyone had placed him into. He got his mom to get him new, cool clothes, and got a new haircut, and got rid of his glasses. That first day he walked in with his new 'look' was one of the few times he's ever had any sense of pride, or self-esteem. And it lasted almost a full five minutes. At that point, the teasing and torture intensified, hurting him as only kids can. Most of the abuse heaped on him wasn't physical, but there were occassions. The kids had to knock him back into his place, after all. And so, after that, Ferguson stayed in the little box he was afforded, never daring to step out and be a 'popular' kid, or even accepted.
His sophomore year, he decided that he wanted to go to Columbia University. It had a great reputation, and was a school his parents would likely approve of. It was a /good/ school, and very selective. However, Ferguson wasn't worried, because he had an almost perfect 4.0. However, his time in high school was surpisingly still isolated, even considering how many classmates he had. When it came time for the application to Columbia, Ferguson held on to the hope that this was the one way out. It became his focus, so much so that he ignored the advice of school counselors and teachers when it came to applying for college. While his GPA was near perfect, he had no extra curricular activities to speak of, and the interview they scheduled for him with a Columbia alumni did not go very well at all. In fact, Ferguson blew his interview, because of how little he spoke, and how uncommunicative he was in sharing with the alumni. As a result, he was not accepted into Columbia, a devestating blow for him. Ferguson didn't have the most loving family before this rejection, and afterwards it became even worse. Eventually, he moved out and got a place in New York, a veritable dump amongst dumps, and a job that he hated. It was around this time, only months after getting rejected from Columbia and graduating high school, that Ferguson learned that he had any sort of mutant ability. This was also the time of the Symposium, where the concept of mutants began burning headlines into newspapers.
Ferguson had a crush on the girl who lived across the hall from him, a 'musician' who was addicted to any number of vices, coke being one of them. One night, while he was wishing he had the courage to speak to her, let alone ask her on a date, he fell asleep dreaming of her. Except- once asleep, the dream changed. He was caught in the rambling mind of someone trying to sleep and dream while they're going through withdrawal, except he didn't know it. The experience was disorienting, and he didn't think anything of it until he met the girl in the laundry room, and she confessed to having dreamt of him. Several more instances like this developed, and he began to realize something wasn't right.
His first inklings of his power were simply that he could transplant his consciousness into the dream of someone else. And that to some extent, he was in their control. In dreams, there are no real laws, save that the subconscious and at times the consciousness drive the dream, and manipulate it. Which meant that Ferguson was at the mercy of the dreamer, if they decided to do something bad to him. He taught himself to find a certain person when they slept, and eventually visited someone from his high school, currently enrolled at Columbia. She was home for the weekend with her mom, on the Upper West Side. It was here that Ferguson's anger first developed, and he found himself manipulating the dream himself, a power he didn't realize he possessed. And when the anger took control, and he killed her in the dream, he thought nothing of it. He was shunted back to his body and jolted awake, but he figured she just woke up. He'd had dreams of dying before, that had scared him like that. However, she hadn't woken screaming. She hadn't woken at all. It was by chance he saw her obituary in the paper, cluttered amongst a hoarde of others. She'd died in her sleep, the doctors thought she had died of asphyxiation. No oxygen. But Ferguson knew what had killed her. He had. He began to deal with this fact by citing it as an accident. However, he continued to dreamwalk, or visit the dreams of others. If he'd met someone, at times he could find their dreams. He had to really focus though, and sometimes it took several nights of searching before he found it.
He saw the dreams of others like bright stars in the sky, and somehow could distinguish between them. If he'd visited a person's dream before, he could find them again if they were within proximity to him. A few times, he'd found trouble when the person he was invading would dream something that hindered him. The solution came easier to him, when he pushed with his mind, and created what he called a 'dream bubble.' A duplication of the original dream, but where he had the control, as it was his own creation. He could pull several people into this dream bubble whenever he wanted, although if they woke or were shocked too much, they could escape. And occassionally, someone died. After awhile, his control over the dreams made the killing more of a pleasure, rather than simply striking out in revenge.
