History:
Max is a native New Yorker, who had a fairly normal life. Despite being an only child, Max had a large number of relatives nearby him at any given time, and so grew up with cousins almost as close as siblings anyway.
His father bought a camcorder when he was 12, and he made good use of it setting up little 'films' (mostly using his relatives and other neighborhood kids as actors). None of them were very good, but he stuck with it and it became something of a passion for him. So much so that when he graduated high school, he applied to the film program of both Columbia and NYU. Columbia accepted him.
During his sophomore year, he attended a party in a brownstone that turned decidedly weird. The house had come under the sway of some kind of entity which made a game of their lives, showing them things they didn't want to confront about themselves and sowing discord in their minds. Max, as well as the others trapped in the house, managed to escape, and Max has repressed many of his memories. Everything he hasn't repressed he blames on hallucinations, as he's convinced himself that someone spiked the drinks. He did bring something out of the house, and brought it home with him, but whatever it was, he doesn't seem to remember that he has it.
Max is presumed missing as one of the occupants of a Columbia dorm building which vanished in Christmas of 2004, leaving no trace behind.
