MUTANT LIBERATION FRONT

It is unknown exactly how the group calling itself the Mutant Liberation Front was formed. Its leader and his or her true motives is still unrevealed. It is clear that they seem to be mutant superiority, and given how quickly they appeared following the Black Prom and the Symposium, they have probably been operating in secret for some time. Their best way to locate mutants seems to be through the mutant Caliban, who has some sort of sense.

Although individual members have made forays on their own (the most notable being when Scuzz attacked Jean Grey to 'prove' mutants existed), their first public, group action was the ambush of three cops in an attempt to recruit the fugitive mutant Rogue into their ranks. The operation failed; Rogue escaped, and two of the police officers were killed, the other permanently disabled. The MLF did not take public credit for it, but some of their members were caught on film.

They later attempted to recruit Rogue in a more sedate setting, sending Friction in to talk to her first, and following it up with more extreme action when she failed to co-operate. Unfortunately, Samuel, a mutant member of the X-men was on the scene and rescued Rogue.

Two days later, they sent Friction to recruit Piotr, who helped her when she took a bullet in the failed ambush attempt, but the attempt failed due to his unwillingness to harm innocents.

Another high profile effort was when they tried to abduct Rachel from the park, believing her to be a powerful mutant. The X-Men rescued her.

So far, most of the members seem committed to the goals and methods of the MLF with the exception of Friction who seems reluctant and somewhat unwilling in her role. She recently made contact with a few members of the X-men, and claimed that if she leaves they'd kill her or people she cares about, however she offered to funnel them information on them if she can get it.

In retaliation for the part he played in the arrest of mutant fugitive Leland Sharpe, the MLF sent Shooter to kill Grant. However, unaware that Grant is somehow impervious to bullets, he failed and died in the attempt.

They later attacked Grant personally, with a more intense force, at his apartment. Grant survived, though much of his apartment building did not. Several people died.

Shortly after this, Friction's contact with the Xers was discovered by Fabian, who used two of his newest members, Freefall and Tangler, to dispose of her. She was rescued by Cannonball and Colossus of the X-men, though was comatose for almost a month. When she finally came to, she contacted Grant and gave him information on the full name of Freefall.

Tapping his phone and following him, it wasn't long before Grant and Marcus stumbled onto a MLF meeting consisting of Fabian, Caliban, Freefall, Tangler, and Diamond Lil. All but Caliban (who escaped) were arrested and some were hospitalized. Stalker was not there, nor was Scuzz who has been distancing himself from the MLF. Shortly after that, Friction was placed in the witness protection program, finally willing to testify, and so has disappeared from the public eye. Some months later, Fabian Cortez and Diamond Lil were broken out of Riker's Island prison, New York, by what seems to be a new and larger MLF. What happens next with this organization remains to be seen...
